Me in Max Azria

My signature characteristic is that I am bluntly honest- I say the first thing that pops in my head and people say to me, “I love your honesty,” but I know they are really thinking, “I can’t believe she just said that.”

In terms of vital statistics, I am single, intermittently dating and doing the Sisyphean task of replenishing my ever draining friend pool (Why do people leave Philly for LA or NYC?). Currently, I’m extricating myself from suburbia and moving to Norris Square. Here is a geeked out blog post I wrote about my new digs.

Politically, I am a lefty and am a supporter of progressive social change.  But I’m no armchair intellectual radical…I’m more of a lay-on-the-sofa leftist, asleep and drooling atop the latest “must read” piece of political commentary.

Everybody asks me about my work. Here goes. I am a grantwriter for an AIDS organization. It’s a great job and I love it. In this time of recession, I’m glad to have it.

As for my interests, I pitch in at the ER of Pennsylvania Hospital. Also, I  do stuff for sundry progressive causes. I want the world to be a happier place with less miserable, preventable death. And I take improv comedy classes, which has taught me how to listen, live in moment, and play wildly like a kid in a snowstorm.

Oh yeah, I love music and dancing. But I blog about that stuff a lot, so no need to go into details about that. Check out my last.fm page and you can see what I am listening to at the moment. Btw, I’m open to meeting new people on the dancefloor, so if you like to hang out at places like the Barbary, Fluid, Kung fu necktie, or the Sundae party, hit me up.

Fearing my inevitable death is my greatest motivating influence. Sounds like a downer, but I’m not a Woody Allen-esque wanker. Instead, I want to squeeze as much as I can from the moment. I don’t mean to scare you with my intensity, but if I die young like my dad, I don’t have many party years left.

The purpose of my blog is to meet and converse with people, not about impressing you with my sexy brain.

There is more I could say, but it’s your turn to talk. You can find me and communicate in many ways. Scribble on my blog. Also, show me your website/blog/Tumblr/Twitter/Facebook, etc. and I will follow.

  1. Hi Caroline,

I’m new to the blogging world so forgive me if I don’t follow blogging protocol, if there is one. My aim is to become more in tune to Philly so I can improve my website, http://www.TomorrowOnly.com. I’m always open to suggestions

  2. Hey Mark,

Seems like you posted a spam marketing site, rather than a solipsistic, haltingly funny vanity blog. But I’ll leave your comment posted because it’s the only one I have.

    oxox,

    Caroline

  3. Now you can get rid of the spam comment because I’m leaving you a comment. Hope all is well. I’m enjoying the blog. One concern is the use of WordPress.com.

Don’t get me wrong WordPress is the best of the best but you’re really limiting your creative potential by doing the wordpress.com approach.

I’d suggest getting hosting from MediaTemple or even Bluehost (please let me know if you do the latter as I get credit if you sign up through me) and hosting WordPress on your own blog. It’s a little scary at first but liberating once you get it up and running and see the true freedom of having complete control over your blog/site.

I’d be happy to talk to you more about it. You know how to find me.

  4. Hey, Seth.

Appreciate you wanting to help me out, but I’m broke and also a cheapskate. If the PA budget impasse continues, I won’t be getting paid at work for awhile. They call those “payless paydays.” And frankly, I’m really not interesting enough to merit paying money to have a web site.

And by the way, I’d really like it if people made comments on my “About Caroline” page that were about me. I am needy for affirmation.

I hope you know I am gently kidding you. So glad you enjoy my blog. I enjoy knowing you too.

    Thanks,

    Caroline

  5. You’re a great talented person. There’s an affirmation. 😀

  6. I was also quite taken aback at your stunning good looks…thinking to myself, there’s a woman who, while being a stunner, also seems approachable! And no doubt able to carry on an interesting conversation…

  7. Hey girl!
I love ya!!! Sorry it took me so long to get over here and read your stuff – has it been on here all along? ANYway, you are VERY VERY VERY talented and funny and one day we will have to meet up.

    Keep writing!
